Privacy Policy
For the NumText Android application
This Privacy Policy explains how the NumText mobile application (the “App”, “we”, “our”) handles information when you use it. We respect your privacy. NumText is a free utility that converts numbers into words across English and 13 Indian languages. By using the App you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
The App does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, photographs, contacts, location, files, or any other personally identifying information. There is no sign-up and no user account.
1.2 Information stored locally on your device
The App stores the following only on your phone:
- Your most recent number conversions (last 100 entries) so you can recall and re-share them.
- Your selected language and numbering-style preference.
- A counter used to throttle the frequency of advertisements.
This locally-stored data never leaves your device and is removed when you uninstall the App, clear its data, or use the “Clear conversion history” option in Settings.
1.3 Information collected automatically by advertising partners
The App is supported by advertising delivered by Google AdMob, a service operated by Google LLC and its affiliates. AdMob collects, processes, and shares the following categories of data on our behalf, as itemised in our Google Play Data Safety declaration:
| Data category (Play Data Safety taxonomy) | Why it’s used | Collected | Shared |
|---|---|---|---|
| Device or other IDs — the Advertising ID (AAID) | Display advertising, ad measurement, frequency capping, fraud prevention by Google. | Yes | Yes (with Google AdMob) |
| App activity — app interactions (ad impressions, clicks, dwell time) | Display advertising, ad measurement, analytics performed by Google. | Yes | Yes (with Google AdMob) |
| App info and performance — diagnostics (coarse device model, OS version, language, country derived from IP) | Display advertising, ad measurement, error monitoring of the advertising SDK by Google. | Yes | Yes (with Google AdMob) |
These categories are collected and shared each time an ad is requested from Google AdMob while you use the App. Google’s use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Advertising Technologies policy. NumText itself does not have access to or store this data on any server controlled by us.
2. Purposes of data use
The locally-stored data (Section 1.2) is used solely to provide App features — history, language preference, ad cadence — and is never transmitted off your device.
The advertising data (Section 1.3) is used by Google to:
- Display in-app advertising banners and interstitial ads.
- Measure ad performance (impressions, clicks).
- Limit how often the same ad is shown to the same device.
- Detect fraudulent or invalid ad traffic.
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with any third party for marketing purposes other than the AdMob advertising described above.
3. Data sharing
The App shares the data listed in Section 1.3 only with Google LLC (the operator of AdMob). No other third party receives data from the App. We do not transfer data to data brokers and we do not use the data for credit-worthiness, lending, or insurance underwriting.
4. Children’s privacy
NumText is rated for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
5. Permissions the App requests
NumText requests the minimum permissions needed for it to function:
- INTERNET — to fetch advertisements.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to detect connectivity for ad loading.
- com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID — required by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to access the Advertising ID for ad personalisation; declared in accordance with Google Play requirements.
The App does not request access to contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, files, SMS, call logs, or any other sensitive permission.
6. Your choices and controls
- Reset advertising ID: Android → Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Opt out of personalised ads: adssettings.google.com. You will still see ads but they will not be personalised based on your activity.
- Clear local history: open the App → Settings → “Clear conversion history”.
- Delete all App data: uninstall NumText, or Android → Settings → Apps → NumText → Storage → Clear data.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because NumText does not require an account and does not transmit personal data to any server controlled by us, there is no server-side record of you to delete. Uninstalling the App or clearing its data removes everything stored locally. Advertising-ID-linked data held by Google is retained according to Google’s policies referenced above; you can request deletion of advertising data directly with Google.
8. Security
All data described in Section 1.2 is stored locally using the operating system’s standard secure storage. Network requests made by the advertising SDK use TLS (HTTPS) encryption in transit.
9. International transfers
Google AdMob may process data in countries outside India where Google operates servers. By using the App and receiving ads, you consent to this processing as described in Google’s Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will also be announced through the Play Store update notes for the App.
